Trouble Keeping White Bream on the Hook

Messaggioda Williamhawk » mar dic 19, 2017 7:49 am

Hi,

It got me thinking as many times the fish are hooked around the mouth area rather than in the mouth. I watch them in the clear water as they attack the lure and they are very vicious in their hits (even the tiny little ones will have a go). I always give a twitch after a few turns of the handle and this is probably why they get hooked outside of their mouths.
I was thinking of down sizing to a CD1 and a #8 single to get a better chance of hooking them in thier mouths proper.
Any ideas on how to hook them without doing them uneccessary damage? Will down sizing help?

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
